Almost any herb can be used to create a delicious tea. The main benefit of herbal teas is it is caffeine free so it can be enjoyed all day. Coming from an Asian heritage, herbal teas have been used in my family for so many medicinal qualities. Here are a few common uses for some of my favorite herbal teas: Chamomile: Famous for its relaxing qualities, chamomile has been touted for being the natural sleep aid. Have a cup of Koni Sleepy Time Tea before bed to promote restful sleep. This tea is the perfect blend of Egyptian chamomile, and premium rooibos tea, which helps to relieve nervous tension. Chamomile is also known to soothe stomach aches, eases the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome, promotes elimination, and assists in overall digestion. Relax your stomach with The Tea Chick's stomach soother mint rooibos recipe. Ginger: A long-time helper for stomach ailments of all types, ginger is particularly helpful for nausea and gas. Ginger helps food flow smoothly through the digestive tract, allowing the body to better absorb nutrients. When the ginger root is steeped in boiling water you can create a tea that is helpful for queasy stomachs. Drink a cup of Koni Stomach Soother Tea to get your stomach back on track. Mint: This powerful herb can relieve symptoms of indigestion, heartburn and irritable bowel syndrome by relaxing the muscles in and around the intestine. Mint also acts as a powerful antioxidant, protecting the body against the formation of cancerous cells. For a refreshing relief on hot sultry days, try The Tea Chick's Strawberry Mint iced tea recipe. Tulsi basil: Known as the Queen of Herbs, tulsi basil is a powerful adaptogen which increases the body's resistance to physical, biological, emotional and environmental stressors. Adaptogens are nature's herbal remedy for stress. Relieve daily stress and reduce anxiety with a pot of Koni Holy Detox caffeine free tea. Licorice root: This is one of the most beneficial herbs in existence. Licorice root is a natural detoxifying agent and can rid the body of a vast spectrum of toxins, without any unwanted side effects. This makes it a great tea to drink for weight reduction. In the respiratory system, licorice root has a soothing and healing action which helps reduce irritation and inflammation. Koni Throat Revival is my favorite tea to drink when I have a sore throat. Hibiscus: A popular tea alternative in the Middle East which is drunk hot or cold. Hibiscus tea is also consumed in Okinawa, where the natives associate Hibiscus tea with longevity. According to a 2004 study published in the journal Phytomedicine, people suffering from hypertension can lower their blood pressure significantly by drinking hibiscus tea daily. Hibiscus is rich in bioflavonoids such as proanthocyanidins, also found in grape seed extract. These lower cholesterol, improve body circulation and protect cells from free radical damage, according to Preventive-Health-Guide.com. The fruity taste of Koni Tutti Fruitea hibiscus tea makes it a popular healthy beverage for both adults and kids. |
